Doc 9876 2006 Edition CORRIGENDUM 18/9/07 DOCUMENTATION FOR THE SESSION OF THE ASSEMBLY IN 2007 ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COUNCIL 2006 2006 EDITION Please amend in the Annual Report of the Council 2006, Appendix 8, page A-36, the entry for Botswana, as follows the revised text is shaded in grey BOTSWANA Assistance in the Establishment of a Civil Aviation Authority for Botswana Project goal The objective of this project, funded by the Government of Botswana, is to establish an efficient and effective civil aviation structure that responds to both the dynamics of the aviation industry and the countrys social and economic development, which promotes trade and tourism. This project began in 2005 with an expected duration of 18 months. Project achievements Five ICAO experts developed a comprehensive work plan that set priorities and milestones in order to achieve the results described in the Project Document. A legal organizational structure for the Civil Aviation Authority CAA was prepared. The preparation of terms and conditions of service for senior officers and the fixing of remunerations are being followed up by the CAA Board of Directors as a matter of top priority with the assistance of the ICAO experts. Applications for the Chief Executive Officer and senior management positions have been received and the process is under way to shortlist suitable candidates. Existing civil aviation legislation was reviewed and a new draft of Aviation Security Regulations was developed. A preliminary study for information technology IT requirements was completed. END
