SUPPLEMENTARY AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE INTERNATIONAL ClVlL AVIATION ORGANIZATION AND THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA REGARDING THE HEADQUARTERS OF THE INTERNATIONAL ClVlL AVIATION ORGANIZATION ACCORD SUPPLEMENTAIRE ENTRE L'ORGANISATION DE L'AVIATION ClVlLE INTERNATIONALE ET LE GOUVERNEMENT DU CANADA RELATIF AU SIEGE DE L'ORGANISATION DE L'AVIATION ClVlLE INTERNATIONALE
The International Civil Aviation Organization and the Government of Canada, Considering the Government of Canada's obligations as Host State to the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO Considering the Headquarters Agreement between the Government of Canada and the Organization signed on October 4 and 9, 1990 Recalling the desire expressed by the Council, particularly on December 12, 1979, that the Lease for the Headquarters premises of the 'international Civil Aviation Organization be signed by the Government of Canada Desiring to replace the Supplementary Headquarters Agreement signed on September 12 and 16, 1980 in order to reflect the relocation of the Organization's Headquarters on November 1, 1996 Have agreed as follows ARTICLE I Lease of ICAO Premises 1. The Government of Canada has signed a lease with the owner of "La Maison de 1'OACl" hereinafter referred to as "the Lease" located at 999 University Street hereinafter referred to as "the Building", Montreal, Quebec, Canada, for the sole purpose of providing reasonable and adequate space for the Headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization hereinafter referred to as "the Organization". 2. The Government of Canada agrees to rent from the owner and the Organization agrees to occupy the entire Building for a period of 20 years and one month, renewable as prescribed in clause 4.4 of the Lease, beginning November 1, 1996, and corresponding to the present needs of the Organization's Headquarters. The Organization shall not make sub- stantial alteration to the surface it occupies involving inter alia major electrical or mechanical systems and base building structures without the consent of the Government of Canada.
L'Organisation de l'aviation civile internationale et le gouvernement du Canada, Considerant les obligations du gouvernement du Canada en sa qualitt d'tat hate de I'Organisation de l'aviation civile internationale OACI Considerant 1'Accord de sikge entre le gouvernement du Canada et l'organisation de l'aviation civile internationale signt les 4 et 9 octobre 1990 Attentifs au vceu exprime par le Conseil, notarnment le 12 dtcembre 1979, que le Bail relatif aux locaux du sikge de l'organisation de l'aviation civile internationale soit signt par le gouvernement du Canada DCsireux de remplacer 1'Accord suppltmentaire de sibge sign6 les 12 et 16 septembre 1980 afin de refltter la relocalisation du sikge de I'Organisation effectute le 1"' novembre 1996 Sont convenus des dispositions suivantes ARTICLE PREMIER Bail relatif aux locaux de 1'OACI 1. Le gouvernement du Canada a sign6 un bail dtnomme ci-aprk le Bail avec le propriktaire de La Maison de l'OACI, sise au numero 999, rue University dtnommte ci-aprbs cl'Immeuble, B Montreal Qutbec, Canada, B seule fin de fournir un espace raisonnable et adequat au sibge de l'organisation de l'aviation civile internationale dtnommte ci-aprks al'Organisation. 2. Le gouvernement du Canada convient de louer au proprittaire, et l'organisation convient d'occuper, la totalitt de 1'Immeuble pour une ptriode de 20 ans et un mois, renouvelable come il est prtvu B la clause 4.4 du Bail, B compter du 1" novembre 1996, et correspondant aux besoins actuels du sikge de l'organisation. L'Organisation n'apporte aucune modification substantielle aux superficies qu'elle occupe, notamrnent aux principaux systkmes tlectriques et mecaniques et B la structure de base de l'Imrneuble, sans le consentement du gouvernement du Canada.
