FOREWORD AVANT-PROPOS ANTECEDENTES The Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization, at its Third Session 1949, resolved L'Assemblee de I'Organisation de I'avia- tion civile internationale, lors de sa troisieme session, en 1949, a adopt6 la resolution suivante La Asamblea de la Organizacibn de Aviaci6n Civil Internacional, en su 111 periodo de sesiones 1949, adopt6 la siguiente Resoluci6n A3-2 Preparation de textes frangais et espagnol de la Convention A3-2 Prevaracidn de los textos espaiiol y frataces del Convenio A3-2 Preparation of French and Spanish texts of the Convention BE IT RESOLVED Que el Consejo tome las medidas pertinentes a fin de que, tan pronto como sea posible, la Organizacion disponga de 10s textos espafiol y francts del Convenio de Aviaci6n Civil Internacional suscrito en Chicago, entendiCn- dose que dichos textos servirin dnicamente para 10s fines internos de la Organizaci6n. DIRECTS the Secretary General to make ar- rangements for the publication of the English, French and Spanish texts in a single docu- ment. CHARGE le secrCtaire gCnCral de prendre toutes dispositions utiles pour publier en uo seul volume les textes franqais, anglais et espagnol. The Assembly, at its Eighth Session 1954, approved an amendment to Article 45 and an amendment to Articles 48a, 49e and 61 of the Convention. These amendments came into force on 16 May 1958 and 12 December 1956, respectively. The amendments were approved in three texts of equal authenticity, in English, French and Spanish. Lors de sa huitieme session, en 1954, La Asamblea, en su VIlI periodo de sesiones 1954, aprobb una enmienda a1 Articulo 45 y otra a 10s Articulos 48 a, 49 e y 61 del Convenio. Tales enmiendas entraron en vigor el 16 de mayo de 1958 y el 12 de diciembre de 1956, respectiva- mente, habikndose aprobado en tres textos que tienen igual autenticidad, en espafiol, frances e ingles. 1'Assemblee a approuve un amendement t l'article 45 et un amendement aux articles 48 a, 49 e et 61 de la Convention. Ces amendements sont entres en vigueur les 16 mai 1958 et 12 dtcembre 1956, respectivement. 11s ont ete approuves dans trois textes, dont chacun fait egale- ment foi, en franqais, en anglais et en espagnol.

At the Second Meeting of its Thirty- fourth Session on 13 May 1958, the Council approved an amended Spanish text and decided that, for the purpose of the Resolution it had adopted on 19 February 1952, the Spanish text attached thereto should be replaced by the new amended Spanish text. At the Fifteenth Meeting of its Thirty-fifth Session on 10 December 1958, the Council approved certain amend- ments to the French text which was attached to the Resolution it had adopted on 19 February 1952. The texts published in the present document are in English, the text signed at Chicago on 7 December 1944, as amended by the Eighth Session of the Assembly, and the two texts in French and Spanish which have been approved by the Council of ICAO for the internal purposes of the Organization. These three texts do not constitute the "text drawn up in the English, French and Spanish languages, each of which shall be of equal authenticity" as contemplated in the final clause of the Chicago Convention. As regards the text of Article 45 and Articles 48a, 49e and 61 of the Con- vention as amended by the Eighth Session of the Assembly, attention is invited to the footnotes to the said Articles. Lors de la quin- zikme seance de sa trente-cinquitme session, le 10 decembre 1958, le Conseil a approuve certains amendements au texte francais joint A la rCsolution qu'il avait adoptCe le 19 fevrier 1952. Les textes publies dans le present docu- ment sont le texte anglais sign6 A Chicago le 7 dkcembre 1944, amend6 par la hui- titme session de l'Assemblee, et les deux textes franqais et espagnol approuves par le Conseil pour les besoins interieurs de l'organisation. Ces trois textes ne cons- tituent pas le texte B rtdiger dans les langues anglaise, franqaise et espagnole, chacune faisant egalement foi, prCvu dans les dernikres dispositions de la Convention de Chicago. A propos de I'article 45 et des articles 48 a, 49 e et 61 de la Con- vention, tels qu'ils ont CtC modifies lors de la huitieme session de I'AssemblCe, priere de se reporter aux notes de bas de page relatives aces articles. El Consejo, en la 2a sesi6n de su XXXIV periodo de sesiones, celebrada el 13 de mayo de 1958, aprob6 un texto espafiol enmendado y decidi6, para 10s fines de la Resoluci6n adoptada el 19 de febrero de 1952, reemplazar el texto espafiol adjunto a la misma por el nuevo texto espaiiol enmendado. El Consejo, en la 15" sesi6n de su XXXV periodo de se- siones, celebrada el 10 de diciembre de 1958, aprob6 ciertas enmiendas a1 texto franc adjunto a la Resolution adoptada el 19 de febrero de 1952. Los textos publicados en este documento son en ingles, el suscrito en Chicago el 7 de diciembre de 1944, enmendado por el VIII periodo de sesiones de la Asamblea, y 10s dos textos en espaiiol y en frances que han sido aprobados por el Consejo de la OACI para uso interno de la Organizacibn. Estos tres textos no constituyen el "texto redactado en 10s idiomas ingles, frances y espafiol, cada uno de 10s cuales tendra igual autenticidad", previsto en la ultima cliusula del Convenio de Chicago. Por lo que se refiere a1 texto del Articulo 45 y de 10s Articulos 48 a, 49 e y 61 del Conve- nio, tal como fueron modificados durante el VIII periodo de sesiones de la Asamblea se llama la atenci6n acerca de las notas respecto de dichos articulos.
